How much does junk removal cost in Mount Holly, NC?

Junk removal is priced by the space the load takes, not by the hour, at one price per trailer load: a pickup-bed load is $150, a small room is $235, a large room is $315, a one-car garage is $395, a partially cleared two-car garage is $475, a full two-car garage is $560, and a trailer packed full — the kind an old mill cottage or a long-held family home off Woodlawn Avenue generates — is $700.
Surcharges are added per item, not baked into a vague quote. Mattresses and box springs are +$25 each, refrigerant appliances (fridges, freezers, window units, dehumidifiers) are +$40, tires are +$8 each, and paint and e-waste are billed at whatever the disposal site charges. Stairs above the first flight add $25, a heavy or awkward item like a treadmill or a large appliance starts at +$40. Pianos, gun safes, hot tubs and slate pool tables are quoted separately and never go at the single-item rate, and same-day service is +$40 when we can fit it. What will the City of Mount Holly pick up, and what do I have to haul myself?
Mount Holly runs a paid sticker program: you go to the Municipal Complex, pay a $15 flat fee per standard bulk item (couches, chairs, desks), get an orange collection sticker, and set the item at the curb on your regular garbage day. Appliances are $25, mattresses $20, box springs $5, and tires off the rim $5 each. Payment is cash, check, or money order — no card. Televisions and computer monitors are not accepted in the bulk program at all.
That last part is where most Mount Holly calls to us start. A TV, a monitor, a pile of old electronics, or a load that is bigger than a sticker or two makes the sticker route slow and awkward. So does anything you cannot physically get to the curb — which describes a lot of second-floor furniture in the older houses near Highland Street and South Chestnut. City curbside recycling has also been suspended since July 1, 2024, so recyclables now go to the Riverbend Recycling Center at 146 Mountain Island Road, and larger volumes go to the Gaston County landfill on Philadelphia Church Road over in Dallas. Brick and stone come up constantly here.
