How much does junk removal cost in Matthews, NC?

A few items carry their own charge because the disposal site charges us: $25 per mattress or box spring, $40 for any appliance holding refrigerant (fridge, freezer, window or through-wall AC, some dehumidifiers), $8 per tire, and paint or e-waste at whatever the facility charges. Stairs above the first flight add $25 per flight, an unusually heavy or awkward item starts at +$40, and same-day service is +$40 when we can fit it. The town's contracted hauler charges roughly $25 for one bulky item (up to about the size of an 84-inch couch), $50 for two to five items, and $25 per appliance — but it will not take construction and demolition debris at all. That's the gap we fill. Torn-out carpet, old deck boards, cabinets, drywall, fencing, a demoed vanity, shed contents, and anything past the five-item cap are all on you to move, and none of it goes in the green cart.
Yard waste has its own limits: paper lawn and leaf bags only, capped at 20 bags a week at 40 pounds each, and limbs cut to 4-foot lengths, no more than 5 inches thick, stacked in no more than three piles. A single storm cleanup in an older Matthews yard with mature oaks blows past that in one afternoon.
If you'd rather do it yourself, the two closest Mecklenburg County full-service disposal and recycling centers are Hickory Grove at 8007 Pence Road and Foxhole at 17131 Lancaster Highway, both open Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Either one is a 25 to 35 minute run from most Matthews addresses depending on traffic on US-74 and I-485.
